PULITZER prize-winning playwright Sam Shepard will read from his works of fiction at the Abbey Theatre next Thursday (8 March) as part of its hugely successful The Abbey Talks series of free talks and events.
Shepard's readings are the start of a programme of well-known American writers entitled "American Voices".
Shepard has written a number of short-story collections including 'Motel Chronicles' (1982), 'Cruising Paradise' (1996) and the 'Rolling Thunder Log Book', a diary of his time on Bob Dylan's 1975 Rolling Thunder Review tour.
The reading takes place in the Abbey auditorium and runs in conjunction with the world premiere of 'Kicking a Dead Horse', which he also directs.
The massively honoured writer, actor and playwright (pictured) has won the Obie Award for 11 of his plays and as an actor has appeared in major films including 'The Right Stuff', 'Frances', 'Country', 'The Pelican Brief' and 'Steel Magnolias'.
Tickets for this reading and other events in The Abbey Talks series are free but booking is essential (01 87 87 222 or www. abbeytheatre. ie).
