Ari Hoenig Inversations Dreyfus Jazz . . . .
IT IS probably a little too soon to say for sure, but it's possible that drummer Ari Hoenig has the makings of one of those rare musicians who is going to change the way his instrument is played.
Hoenig is possessed of jaw dropping technical facility but that is almost taken for granted among the top echelons of jazz nowadays.
Where Honeig is forging new ground is in changing the way the drum set functions within the ensemble, rivaling a horn player for melodic invention. If you like your drummers, you'll love Ari Hoenig. Cormac Larkin
