WALKED into McDonald's on Grafton Street last Saturday and thought I'd walked onto the set of a focking horror movie - we're talking a hundred, maybe more, boys and girls dressed from head to toe in black, their boat races covered in white foundation, their eyes and lips painted black.
"Are they reshooting 'The Dawn of the Dead'?" I asked the bird behind the counter, who I couldn't help but notice had the serious hots for me.
"No, " she goes, "they're our goths. They come in here every Saturday afternoon for a Coke. Between them. And they stay for hours, looking miserable."
I was like, "Not a good advertisement for Mackie Ds, is it?
Why don't you give them all a Happy Meal. See if it cheers them up. Get a 'before' and 'after' shot. Make a great ad."
"Great idea, " she goes, giving me the serious once-over. "I'll suggest it to head office."
