A CORK company is set to become the first European client of the winner of the Middle Eastern version of the hit television show, The Apprentice, in a deal that is thought to be worth about Euro2m in its first year and is expected to grow after that.
Hijazi Isaac, who used to work with Enterprise Ireland, won $250,000 dollars on the Arabic show The Investor from well-known Saudi millionaire, Sheikh Walli Juffali. He is now teaming up with Frank Hannigan's yougetitback. com, a lost and found company that helps to reunite people with their lost possessions by adding traceable electronic tags.
Isaac set up 'The Business School', a firm which tries to help businesses sell into the Middle East and is under the mentorship of Sheikh Walli Juffali. He is a native of Hebron in the West Bank and it was he who initiated the deal, according to Hannigan.
"We were very surprised when he came to us, " Hannigan told the Sunday Tribune. "We had known him from before working with Enterprise Ireland. We didn't know he won The Apprentice or anything. He came to us when we were over with the taoiseach and said he wanted in.
He loved our idea. He is one of the best-known young business executives in the Middle East, " he said.
Isaac's firm was immediately able to set the company up with five major deals in the Middle East region, as yougetitback prepares to expand globally with a major rollout of tags in America and Europe in the coming months.
"Our business model is simple.
Cabbies in London hand back 63,000 mobile phones every six months. We provide a service that helps people get their possessions back, " he said.
