A 72-YEAR-OLD Co Clare woman who sustained a lifethreatening head injury following an incident at a residential psychiatric unit has miraculously regained consciousness.
Mary Keane from Lissycasey was rushed to hospital last Tuesday morning after apparently falling and banging her head at a community psychiatric unit operated by the HSE. She remained on life-support in the ICU at Ennis General Hospital until Thursday night when she was moved to the acute psychiatric unit. On Friday night she woke up and was reportedly "aware of her surroundings." One hospital medic said, "This is nothing short of a miracle."
