THE lead singer with US band Boston has been found dead at his home. Brad Delp (55) sang the vocals on a string of rock hits from the 1970s, including 'More Than a Feeling' and 'Long Time'.
New Hampshire police confirmed they discovered Delp's body on Friday afternoon.
Lieutenant William Baldwin said there was no indication anyone else was involved in the death, with the cause still to be determined by the medical examiner.
The band's website has been taken down, replaced with the simple message: "We just lost the nicest guy in rock and roll."
Delp joined the band in the early 1970s after meeting guitarist, songwriter and producer Tom Scholz. Their first album, the eponymous Boston, was a huge success and the band gained a loyal fanbase, touring extensively. But Scholz had a reputation for meticulous album production and the slow progress on successive releases tore the band apart.
Delp quietly left the group in 1991 and was replaced on lead vocals by Fran Cosmo on the album Walk On. But he rejoined the group for the album's tour, sharing the vocal duties with Cosmo. A new Boston album, with Delp as sole lead singer, was in the making but no release date was ever given.
