NATIONAL HURLING LEAGUE PREVIEWS

All games 3.30 unless stated DIVISION 1A PWDL F APts Clare 21 014-352-252 W'ford 1 1 0 0 1-23 1-12 2 Offaly 2 1 0 1 5-32 2-32 2 Cork 1 1 0 0 1-21 1-14 2 Wex ford 2 1 0 1 2-24 2-33 2 Down 2 1 0 2 2-24 7-43 0 CLARE vWATERFORD Cusack Park, 1.30 Referee J Ryan (Tipperary) Match of the day, with the pressure fimly and entirely on the home team - and their Tribune-reading manager - to atone for a quite abysmal dsplay against Wexford. An understrength Waterford were quietly impressive versus Cork last weekend, closing out the match with a blend of determination and calmness. But Clare's need is greater.

Verdict Clare DOWN v CORK Ballygalget, 1.00 Referee J O'Rourke (Monaghan) Cork were neat, tidy and constructive for two thirds of the way at Walsh Park before ultimately offering little of substance when the taps were turned on. Too early in the year to begin to worry, naturally, but getting quicker ball into Diarmuid O'Sullivan would be a help.

Verdict Cork WEXFORD v OFFALY Wexford Park Referee S Roche (Tipperary) It's not intended as an insult to Wexford to deem that their win in Ennis said more about Clare than it did about the visitors. Watch out here for the number of points they hit; Wexford must manage to start doing better than 12 or 13 per match.

VerdictWexford DIVISION 1B PWDL F APts Galway 2 2 0 0 3-42 1-21 4 Tipperary21 013-294-262 Limerick 2 1 0 1 3-22 0-33 2 Dublin 1 0 1 0 2-13 0-19 1 Kilkenny 201 1 2-325-261 Antrim 1 0 0 1 0-12 3-25 0 DUBLIN v GALWAY Parnell Park Referee D Murphy (Wexford) Live, TG4, 3.00 Succeed in at least giving Galway a run for their money - and better to be facing them at home than away - and Dublin will have grounds for maintaining recent optimism.

Verdict Galway TIPPERARY v ANTRIM Templemore, 1.00 Referee J O'Mahony (Limerick) Tipp got everything they deserved at Nowlan Park a fortnight ago and wouldn't have been "attered to win by six or seven points. That they brought home the bacon without Eoin Kelly scoring from play was, needless to add, more a cause for satisfaction than otherwise.

Verdict Tipperary KILKENNY v LIMERICK Monday, Nowlan Park, 2.30 Referee A Heagney (Clare) Limerick lost no caste in defeat, as the journalists of a previous generation liked to phrase it, against a "tter Galway the same day Brian Cody's team did well to lose by only a puck of a ball to Tipp. It's reasonable to expect a more wired Kilkenny here.

Verdict Kilkenny DIVISION 2A PWDL F APts Wicklow 22003-291-234 Laois 2 1 0 1 4-38 4-21 2 Carlow 11002-120-172 Derry 21 014-223-352 Meath 1 0 0 1 0-11 1-17 0 Armagh 2 0 0 2 0-26 4-25 0 ARMAGH v LAOIS Keady, 2.30 Referee J McGrath (Westmeath) Largely overlooked a fortnight ago was a truly worrying result: Laois losing to Wicklow.

A win here won't be enough to undo its message.

Verdict Laois CARLOW vWICKLOW Dr Cullen Park Referee J Kelly (Wexford) The above said, one obviously can't do anything other than congratulate a "ne Wicklow performance in what was their shining hour. Carlow today, though.

Verdict Carlow MEATH v DERRY Pirc Tailteann Referee E Morris (Dublin) Could be tight. Maybe the homesters.

VerdictMeath DIVISION 2B PWDL F APts Kildare 2 1 1 0 3-23 1-27 3 Mayo 2 1 0 1 2-24 2-18 2 Kerry 2 1 0 1 4-18 3-26 2 W'meath 10101-162-131 London 1001 1-133-100 MAYO v LONDON Castlebar, 1.0 Referee B Sweeney (Cavan) After beating Kerry, Mayo shouldn't slip up.
