A Liederspiel devised by the pianist (Graham Johnson) on this recording comprises lieder by Schumann, Brahms, Wolf, Mendelssohn and Loewe to depict the story of a woman's life and love according to a poem by Adelbert Von Chamisso. Austrian mezzosoprano Angelika Kirchschlager and British soprano Felicity Lott perform this duet recital, a total of 46 short songs.
