Piercing the sky on Dublin's Pearse Street
Kieran Flynn

TREASURY Holdings has commenced work on its pioneering Alto Vetro development, which will represent the first significant high-rise building to be developed in Dublin in recent years.

Scheduled for completion in January 2008, it will be Ireland's first block of homes with elevations entirely from glass.

As the newest edition to Dublin's skyline, the 27m Alto Vetro project will encompass a 16-storey glazed residential tower in the heart of Dublin city. Situated on the corner of Pearse Street and Grand Canal Quay, the site is centrally located, directly adjacent to the bridge over Grand Canal dock.

The landmark development will comprise of 26 apartments with private cantilevered balconies and triple aspect views overlooking the water. Two apartments will occupy each floor, arranged around a single core on the lower levels with two duplexes on the two uppermost levels. Each apartment will have floor-to-ceiling windows and will be completed to the highest specification. The roof will feature a roof garden, protected by a two-metrehigh glass balustrade.

"Alto Vetro represents another example of how we are continuing to expand and diversify our development portfolio throughout Ireland and spearhead property trends in urban design, " says Treasury Holding development director, Mark Pollard.

Owned by Treasury Holdings and designed by Shay Cleary architects, the Alto Vetro tower is being transformed from the two-storey domestic building, which previously occupied the site.
