The lively King Kong Club in Pravda, Liffey Street, Dublin 1 is where you go when you want to catch short, sharp shocks of emerging Irish acts. Hosted by Kieron Black, bassist with the band Sack, competing bands get 10 minutes to win their audience over, with judging based on the 'highly scientific' King Kong Clap-O-Meter.
Overall winners of 2006, the Monday Club, see the fruits of their prize on Wednesday when they launch their four-track EP with a special show in the Sugar Club on Leeson Street. Support comes from the competition runners up, Dirty Epic, and admission is 8. Meanwhile, the search starts for 2007's most thrilling new act when King Kong Club relaunches in Pravda on 4 April, 9pm-2.30pm.
Admission, as ever, is free.
