Several golf writers have been indulging in a favourite past time following Vijay Singh's victory at last weekend's Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill. No friend of the Fourth Estate since his purgatory in Borneo for a cheating offence on the Asian Tour during the 1980s, and since his negative comments about Annika Sorenstam's appearance on the PGA Tour, Singh has never really had any bridges to burn in the "rst place.
For reasons best known to himself, he chose to park every day in one of the media spaces at Bay Hill and not in the ample reserved places for players. Apparently, an attendant who asked him politely to move was given the Fijian version of the hairdryer treatment.
Anyway, the world number-seven was taken to task in a number of articles which also mentioned that when Singh was paid one of the ultimate compliments of being inducted into golf's Hall of Fame, he still refused to talk to the media about it.
