Elton John . . . still standing at 60

WHAT'S THE STORY?

Reginald Kenneth Dwight . . . that's Elton John to you and me . . .

turns 60 today. To mark the occasion, he will perform at a celebratory concert in New York which will be shown live online. Who wants to work on their birthday?

Elton John, that's who.

WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?

"Yes I like "owers." . . . John's response to a lawyer when quizzed about his annual spend of 293,000 on "owers.

"Men and women are persecuted and attacked every day all over the world, just because of who they love and who they make love to." . . . Elton John in the New Statesman last week.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

MyNetworkTV, Fox TV's internet broadcast service has obtained exclusive rights to show the 'Happy Birthday Elton' concert online.

MyNet will broadcast the concert from Madison Square Garden on 5 April. John has been racking up column inches coming up to his birthday, blasting homophobia in the article in the New Statesman.
