District Judge Kenneth White granted the decree as one of a list of 30 marriages brought to an end at a brief hearing in London.

Earl Spencer, 42, married Caroline at his ancestral home, Althorp Park, in December 2001.

They have two children. His marriage to his "rst wife, former model Victoria Lockwood, ended in divorce after six years in 1996.
