WHAT'S THE STORY?
Unfurl your boutique tepee, remove the champagne glasses from bubble wrap, dust off those Beastie Boys records and withdraw some money from the ATM because Electric Picnic, Ireland's finest music festival, is back.
The festival will launch tomorrow at Dublin venue Crawdaddy, hosted by Warlords of Pez and the Lost Vagueness troupe. Tickets go on sale on Tuesday at 9am.
WHAT ARE THEY SAYING?
"We could have easily increased that to 50,000. . . but that would dilute what's special about the Picnic." . . . promoter John Reynolds on the decision to keep the festival's capacity at 32,000.
"Football is a fertility festival. Eleven sperm trying to get into the egg. I feel sorry for the goalkeeper." . . . Bjork on, eh, 'festivals'.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?
After endless speculation and bidding wars between various concert bookers and promoters, the line-up will be revealed. Expect Beastie Boys, Bjork (RIGHT), Chemical Brothers, LCD Soundsystem, The Good The Bad And The Queen, Iggy Pop and Primal Scream to be on the list along with a few surprises, a few "ashbacks and a few whoareyiz. Roll on autumn.
