CLONAKILTY PUSH GARRYOWEN TO THE END

Fancied Garryowen were given a mighty fright by Second Division high-flyers Clonakilty at Dooradoyle before "nally securing their passage into this season's AIB Cup final on a 32-13 scoreline.

Don't be fooled by the final score.

Garryowen were greatly flattered by their 19-point winning margin at the end of an exciting semi-final clash.

Garryowen were clinging to a mere five-point advantage, 18-13, as the game ticked into the 79th minute.

However, Clonakilty's all-action display took its toll late on and two tries from Garryowen centre Conan Doyle saw the home side through.

Garryowen had tries from Conor Kilroy and Eoghan Hickey, who also added nine points with the boot, while lively scrum-half Gerry Hurley landed a drop goal.

Clonakilty's points came courtesy of an excellent first half try by flanker Declan Coppinger and two penalty goals and a conversion from out-half Gary Cribb.
