NEW VINTAGE

It's great to note that the growth in wine bars isn't just contained within the capital.

D'Vine wine bar and restaurant in Drogheda, which opened nine months ago, is the first of its kind in the northeast and already has a loyal clientele. Proprietor Sonia Micallef 's mother is French, her father Italian, and her culinary heritage is evident from the menu, with its selection of bruschettas, antipasto and specials like tartiflette, French onion soup and wild mushroom pasta with truffle oil. Her partner, Damien Leddy, meanwhile, looks after the wine, of which there are 40 on offer.

Intimate, comfortable and worth checking out.

4-5 Patrickswell Lane (off Narrow West Street), Drogheda Co Louth. Tel: 041 9800440.
