Swedish Nazis 'hijack' Irish music
Suzanne Breen Northern Editor

SWEDISH Nazis have been accused of trying to hijack an Irish rebel night in Stockholm next month.

Anti-fascist campaigners said the far right was buying tickets and planning to bus in other Nazis to the concert by Glasgow Irish groups, Shebeen and Gary Og's The Exiles. They said this was happening without the two bands' knowledge or approval.

Instead of the Skrewdriver music they once promoted, Swedish Nazis now see Irish rebel music as the "new thing" for their movement and are selling CDs of republican ballads online. Last month, Nazi group Info 14 launched an offensive promoting republican music. Its website contained articles claiming Bobby Sands was a "white patriot". The group's leader, Robert Westerlund, is said to be very taken with Shebeen's music.

In a statement, the Swedish organisation Anti-Fascist Action said: "There is no way that the anti-fascist movement in Sweden can let this concert turn into a rallying point for Nazis."
