THE bodies of an 18-yearold male and a 16-year-old girl have been recovered from a lake in Castlewellan Forest Park in Co Down. They have been named Clare Steele and Rory McAlinden.
They were cousins and from the Castlewellan area. Their canoe overturned in the lake at around 1am yestereday morning.
Meanwhile, the Irish Water Association yesterday urged the public to take care at beaches this weekend.
The IWA says an average of 13 people drown every month. They have advised that lifejackets should be worn on boats, and care taken on the inland waterways and at beaches. The association has also warned that seawater is still very cold despite the hot weather.
