WICKLOW TURN ON THE STYLE AGAINST OFFALY

Wicklow's minors put in a strong showing to beat Offaly 2-14 to 08 in their opening game of the Leinster MFC at Arklow yesterday.

Offaly had the perfect start with a point by corner-forward James Coffey after just 20 seconds, but from there on it was Wicklow who were pulling all the strings.

Full-forward Paul Cunningham scored Wicklow's first goal after 22 minutes when he blocked an attempted clearance by Offaly keeper Ian Duffy into the net.

Midfielder Brian Osborne rattled the Offaly net after 17 minutes of the second half when he blasted a rocket to the roof the net to embellish their 12 point win.

SScorers Wicklow: Paul Cunningham (1-2), Brian Osborne (1-0), Ciaran Walsh (0-6), Shane Carty (0-4), Anthony McLoughlin and Conor Foley (0-1 each).

Offaly: Nigel Dunne (0-5), James Coffey, Rory Allen and Sean Pender (0-1 each).
