Favourite Brian Kenneally moved into the Ras Mumhan leader's jersey after stage two into Castleisland yesterday.
With approximately 25 miles to go, the lead group of 12 were ahead by nearly three minutes when Eugene Moriarty took up the baton to eradicate the lead.
When they got within a minute of the leaders, Kenneally and Paul Griffin broke away and by Ballydesmond linked up with the original break for Kenneally to take the yellow shirt.
