Eithne Ni Dhomhnaill is a former nurse who, for the past seven years, has run a training and consulting business called Nursing Matters, which advises on all aspects of the nursing business, from practice development to research and education. She has recently launched a website entitled Jobs for Nurses. ie
Why have you set up this website?
Because nursing has become so specialised.
Employers are now looking to recruit nurses for jobs that require specific skills and competencies. And the private sector is growing . . .
we have jobs on the site for both public and private sector nurses.
What will the website do?
It will be a one-stop-shop for all nursing jobs. For employers, it provides an opportunity to reach a target nursing audience. It also allows them to upload any jobs on a 24/7 basis, and we will be giving them the facility to view nurses' CVs that have been uploaded. We are also offering a range of advertising packages to meet the needs of our clients, and there is even a recruitment advice centre for employers, which has been provided by Carr Communications.
For job seekers, it allows them to browse through a range of nursing jobs, and, where people are upskilling, it allows them to browse what will be available as they go through the process.
Candidates can upload their CVs onto the system (to attract employers to them), and they have the facility to search jobs and save their searches in the jobs basket.
They can also apply for jobs on-line.

There is also the facility for nurses to set search criteria, including how often they want the search to take place and subsequently have their search results e-mailed directly to them. In addition to the job search and CV uploading facility, the site has a career advice centre with free tips on interview techniques, CV preparation and other relevant topics provided by Paula Myler from Carr Communications.
What can nurses expect when they log on to your website?
Nurses can expect to access a nursing jobs website dedicated to the nursing profession, by virtue of the fact that this site has been designed by nurses for nurses. Also they can expect to see a wide choice of employment opportunities, ranging from home care nursing, practice nursing, hospital based nursing through to management, education and pharmaceutical opportunities. In addition, nurses can expect to find regular features and updates on issues related to employment in the nursing profession.
