Waste firm turns over 63m
Jim McGrath

WASTE management company Oxigen Environmental made a turnover of over 63m in the 12-month period up to 2006, with pre-tax profits coming to over 8m.

The company collects waste for households in Dublin, Louth, Cavan and the Midlands also has 17m worth of bins on its books, according to the latest filed accounts.

Its profits are significantly down on the previous accounts. However, that reporting period ran over 23 months.

The company, controlled by Louth businessman Sean Doyle, paid close to 2m ( 1,192,569) in corporation tax for last year.

Staff numbers at the company grew by over 55 during the reported period while wages and salaries dropped by over 7m. Management staff was reduced from 82 to 61 but 76 new operating staff were added to the company's books.

Shareholders funds stood at 30.9m while the directors received emoluments totalling 1.8m.
