Irish boxers Conor Ahern, Darren Sutherland and John Sweeney are guaranteed at least silver at the GeeBee Senior Multi-Nations in Finland following convincing semi-final victories in Helsinki yesterday.
Flyweight Ahern, from the Baldoyle club in Dublin, stopped Finnish puncher Toni Hamalaine on the 20 point rule in round three (25-5) and will now meet either Germanys Marcel Schneider or Italy's Vincenzo Picardi in today's 51Kg decider.
St Saviours OBA middleweight Sutherland, also did the business, stopping Polish puncher Robert Talarek on the 20 point rule in round three, also on a 25-5 scoreline.
Meanwhile, Sweeney, from the Dungloe club in Donegal, recorded a 20-4 win over Latvia's Raitis Atvars and will meet either Clemente Russo (Italy) or Finland's Jarno Rosberg in this afternoons heavyweight final.
