TRIED & TASTED BUTTER
Jillian Bolger

WHETHER smothered on toast, slathered on crusty bread or drizzled on a fluffy baked potato, butter can make the most simple foods deliciously decadent in an instant. Here are the ones that made us melt.

Avonmore 2.19/450g A good, creamy butter that's really smooth and nicely salted.

Lacks a little richness on the taste but melts well without any greasiness.

***

Kerrygold 1.06/227g Extra creamy and rich, this tasty butter is smooth and lightly salted.

Textbook excellence.

*****

Farmhouse Irish Country Butter 2.88/250g This butter is quite distinctive in flavour but it has a faint margarine taste to it. Robust and salty, it wasn't to everyone's liking.

**

Tesco Finest Brittany Butter 1.93/250g This creamy, distinctive butter, seasoned with real sea-salt crystals, is delicious.

A real gourmet treat for crusty bread.
