Tech toys for millionaires and wannabes

Damien Mulley offers a run-through of some of the gadget choices of the rich and famous Goldvish Million Dollar phone

WE have a feeling that the regular mobile insurance Carphone Warehouse offers might not cover the GoldVish phone. Touted at the world's most expensive phone and with a Euro1 million price tag, the Goldvish Million looks like a mobile phone with a snakeskin cover, but on closer examination you'll realise that the whole body of the phone is covered in diamonds attached to a platinum body. Available in limited numbers (probably because there are only so many rich people that are insane enough to buy one), you can also get the phone in white and yellow gold versions. Available from www. goldvish. com.

25,000 USB drive Finally, a USB flash drive you don't have to hide in your pocket. The Stor Data diamond USB drive comes with 350 white diamonds, a pure platinum casing, and holds up to 4GB of your data. USB 2.0 supports Windows XP and Vista and also MacOS. Wear this with pride around your neck with the platinum neckchain that comes with it. Security detail costs extra. Available from www. stordata. com.

Gold staples Not so much staples made of gold but stapled-on pieces of jewellery. These staples can be purchased from www. oooms. nl, but like the traditional luxury goods slogan, if you have to ask the price, maybe you can't afford them. Either that or they don't want to be ridiculed for trying to get large chunks of money for something that clashes with the idea of the paperless office.

Tulip E-Go Diamond Like a giant make-up compact, the Tulip E-Go is one of the ugliest laptops we've seen. Aimed at rich, tech-savvy women, the Tulip E-Go notebook is inlaid with solid palladium white gold plates in which thousands of brilliant-cut diamonds have been set by skilled craftsmen. The laptop itself isn't the highest-specced machine you can get - it has just 1GB of memory, a 100GB hard drive and 12.1 inch screen supporting 1280 X 800 pixel resolution. It costs Euro350,000 and you can see it at www. tulip-ego. nl/news-photos-egodiamond. htm.
