Dead stylish NEIL Jordan, who has just completed his thriller 'The Brave One', starring Jodie Foster, is to rewrite and direct 'Heart-Shaped Box', which is adapted from a novel by Joe Hill, a son of Stephen King. A return to the horror genre which delivered Jordan's biggest boxoffice hit 'Interview With A Vampire', the plot features a rock star who buys a suit online supposedly haunted by its dead owner.
Wind changes direction 'THE Other Side of the Wind', Orson Welles's last uncompleted movie which has been tied up in legal wrangles since his death in 1985, may now finally be seen. According to director Peter Bogdanovich, a deal is about to be concluded that will enable him to produce a final cut, possibly framing it with a documentary about the fight to have it shown. Welles is understood to have almost completed the shoot, and to have edited up to 50 minutes of footage.
Reel gone IRISHmovie-going has changed for ever with the screening of a digital 3D version of the new Disney animated movie 'Meet the Robinsons' at Movies @Dundrum, as well as a 2D digital version at cinemas in Stillorgan, Sligo, Cork, Portlaoise, Dungarvan and Enniscorthy. Digital screening eliminates the need for film reels being transported to cinemas and heralds an era of push-button movies. "It sets a standards marker for the cinema audience experience, " says Brendan McCaul, outgoing general manager of the Disney distributor, Buena Vista Ireland.
