Tech firm recruits ex-Philips executive
Jim McGrath

Dublin-based technology company RedMere has appointed a former Philips executive to its board.

Redmere is a 'fabless' semi-conductor company meaning it specialises in high end design and development of chipsets that are used in the electronic entertainment industry.

Dutch native Ruud Van Der Linden is considered something of a heavy hitter in the semi-conductor industry and will be a non-executive director.

Van Der Linden is also senior executive at Freecom Inc and has previously held high pro"le seats on the board at Philips Semi conductor and Atachi.

Knowledge of the Asian technology market was key to his apponitment, according to RedMere CEO Peter Smyth.

"Ruud's experience operating at the highest level in the Asian semiconductor market, including with our more important customers and channel partners, will strengthen our position in the Paci"c Rim, " he said.
