THE Green Party has declined to join in an election transfer pact with Fine Gael and Labour despite Enda Kenny's call on his party supporters to back Green candidates. Green leader Trevor Sargent last night welcomed Kenny's move but said he would not be returning the gesture.
"Nobody in the Green Party is going to get elected on number threes or fours. We have to get first preferences for our candidates, " Sargent said. The Greens took a conference decision not to enter into any preelection pacts with any other parties.
