LIAM Lawlor's widow will make an application to the High Court tomorrow in an effort to halt the Mahon tribunal's investigation into rezoning of lands at Quarryvale. Hazel Lawlor's legal team got permission from the High Court to make the application last Wednesday.
She wants to put a stay on the controversial Quarryvale Two module as her legal challenge against the tribunal proceeds. She has sought to bring about judicial review proceedings against the tribunal, which she claims displayed a "vindictive and vengeful" attitude towards her husband.
Lawlor is arguing that damage could be done to her, her late husband . . . who was killed in a car crash in Moscow in 2005 . . . his estate and her family. Her action is aimed at preventing the tribunal from making any findings of serious misconduct against her or her husband unless they can be proven beyond reasonable doubt.
She also requested transcripts of private meetings between tribunal lawyers and witnesses be released to her.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern is among 88 witnesses listed to take the stand in the Quarryvale Two module which was due to start on 30 April with a new opening statement and evidence from developer Tom Gilmartin.
Ahern is listed to give evidence following Frank Dunlop some time after 22 May.
