ALL IRELAND UNDER-21 FOOTBALL SEMI-FINAL CORK v ARMAGH Portlaoise, 3.00 Extra-time if necessary Referee P McGovern (Galway) If there's one consolation for Tony Leahy and his Cork teams this past three years when they've come out of Munster, it's that the side that's beaten them has gone on to win the All Ireland. Cork have some serious talent but question marks hover.
Even Michael Shields, who had a fine league campaign with the seniors at full-back, has occasionally looked jaded, even mediocre, at this grade.
Armagh have size and ball winners all over the field. Charlie Vernon, Kieran Toner and James Lavery should get minutes with the senior team this summer, while Stefan Forker is a fine finisher. It will be close, and Cork haven't been in any close games this summer.
Verdict Armagh by two or three points CORK K O'Halloran; R Carey, M Shields, G O Se; S O'Donoghue, D Limerick, E Cadogan; A O'Sullivan, F Goold; F Lynch, C Keane, P Kerrigan; C O'Neill, D Goulding, R Leahy ARMAGH (probable) P Rogers; K Dyas, B Donaghy, M Ferris; C Vernon, K Toner, T McClelland; J Lavery, P Courtney; S Forker, J Hanratty, P Kernan; K O'Rourke, S Clarke, G O'Neill
ALL IRELAND COLLEGES SHC A FINAL DE LA SALLE (Waterford) v KILKENNY CBS Croke Park, 12.45 Referee M Haverty (Galway) Live, TG4 Kilkenny CBS's progress to the final has been no less noteworthy than that of their opponents, albeit for distinctly different reasons. Last year's Leinster champions gave the impression in this season's provincial decider of a team who believed they merely had to turn up to win. An infinitely more determined Castlecomer CS quickly disabused them of that assumption and proceeded to score a richly merited 0-11 to 0-6 win at an arctic Nowlan Park, the game finishing in a snow shower.
As though to prove that you can indeed never tell with minors, the CBS then went and reinvented themselves splendidly six days later in beating St Flannan's in the All Ireland quarter-final before having too much for Gort CS in the semi-final. In a forward line that's been reshaped since the Castlecomer game, Mark Bergin is the chief scoring threat, with Mark Kelly and Shane Maher among their other big guns. Not too sure about the grey jerseys they'll be wearing, thoughf Verdict Kilkenny

Despite their tradition of producing wonderful footballers, including current coach John O'Keeffe, 'The Green' have never won the Hogan Cup before. With forwards like Alan O'Donoghue and Barry John Walsh (son of Seanie) though, that might change today.
