LIMERICK'S new 55m Hilton Hotel is set to open at the end of the month, creating 150 new jobs in the city. Located at the corner of O'Callaghan Strand and Ennis Road the seven-storey structure is a joint enterprise between Galway construction company, Lalco Developments and Hilton International. "The Limerick Hilton delivers to the city a top class hotel with modern and luxurious facilities" says Lalco's managing director, John Lally. "We appointed Hilton to operate the hotel because the company's reputation matches the high calibre we want for the project."
The 184-bed Shannonside hotel will feature a specially designed business centre, a 20-metre swimming pool and spa, a ballroom catering for 450 guests and a contemporary restaurant with seating for 130 diners. The hotel's top floor comprises 14 executive business meeting rooms boasting professional, state-of-theart technology.
"The hotel has been designed with the business traveller in mind, with its top class meeting and conference services while at the same time appealing to local residents, " says general manager, Claire Alderson.
A second new hotel, the 120bed Kilmainham Hilton, also owned by Lalco, is expected to open in the near future. Located on the site of the old Rowntree Mackintosh factory near Heuston Station in Dublin, the 40m five-storey structure will feature a large gym and hydrotherapy pool as well as a brasserie restaurant and bar.
