TRAVEL JETCETERA

Sun and sound

If you'd like a foreign musical experience this year, check out Barcelona, where two great festivals are taking place. One is Primavera (31 May-2 June), where the lineup boasts acts like the Smashing Pumpkins, the White Stripes, the Fall and Patti Smith. Visit www. primaverasound. com. The other is the legendary Sonar festival, the electronic music and multimedia arts fest from 1415 June. Beastie Boys, Cornelius and Dave Clarke are some of the acts to look forward to this year. See www. sonar. es.

Destination Disney

Disneyland is a most peculiar place in that everybody who visits it, despite any fears they might have had of theme park naffness, seems to have the most rollicking time there no matter the age. Disneyland Paris is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year and from 1,700 two adults with two children under 11 years of age get return flights from Dublin or Cork, three nights B & B at a Disney hotel and unlimited entry to Disneyland and Walk Disney Studio parks. Call Flying Visits on 01 8146006 or 062 51019 and visit www. flyingvisits. ie.

Estate of that

The Mount Juliet estate near Thomastown, Co Kilkenny, has plenty to offer visitors this summer, besides its spectacular scenery and easy old-world glamour.

They're running master classes in yoga, angling and golf over the coming months.

Each class is led by an expert and prices for the courses, which can last from two to three days, include full board, tuition and all course materials. If you're gong to hone your craft, where better to do it than on 1,500 of luscious country estate? For further information visit www. mountjuliet. ie or telephone 056 777 3011.

Top geyser

Iceland is being touted as one of the summer's coolest destinations and certainly it's got much to recommend it, from hip bars to hot springs and a mesmerising landscape. For 1,749, Slattery Tours are offering an eight-day escorted tour of the country, taking in Reykjavik, the famous Blue Lagoon and much more.

The price includes return flights, seven nights accommodation, breakfast, lunch and dinner, entrance fee where applicable and professional guides. For more information visit www. slatterys. com, lo call 1890 200 625 (from NI 0800 515 900) or email tours@slatterys. com.

Sinai of the times

The kind of holiday where you lie on a lounger while eating your body weight from the buffet is so over. Activity holidays (and yoga varieties in particular) are proving popular among those looking for something a little more conducive to wellbeing.

Yogi Sinead O'Connor (not the Sinead O'Connor) is hosting a yoga trip to Egypt for those who like to detox, tone and tan at the same time. The trip departs Dublin on 10 June, returning 17 June with yoga classes on Monday 11 to Friday 15, allowing guests to tour Dahab on the Sinai Peninsula during the day.

There's also the opportunity to climb Mount Sinai, windsurf or just hang on beside the pool. Seven nights accommodation and breakfast in a three-star hotel costs 400 while guests organise their own flights with Falcon Holidays for 485.

For more information, contact info@hushyoga. com or call Sinead on 0861716131.
