A MAN arrested last week as part of the garda investigation into the murder of apprentice plumber Anthony Campbell has appeared in court.
He was arrested under Section 30 of the Offences against the State Act on Thursday for questioning about the murders of Campbell and crime boss Martin 'Marlo' Hyland last December. The 26-yearold was released from Blanchardstown garda station at 5.55pm on Friday evening and immediately rearrested on suspicion of theft.
He appeared at Dublin district court yesterday morning and was formally charged with the theft of a Toyota Avensis worth 20,000 from Santry Cross apartment complex, Ballymun, on or around 5 December 2006. Detective Garda Greg Gough from Finglas station gave evidence that the vehicle was recovered but that it had been damaged.
The man's solicitor applied for bail for her client and he was remanded until 8 June after his mother presented 3,000 in cash to the court.
He was one of two men arrested in relation to the murder of 20-year-old Anthony Campbell and 39-year-old Marlo Hyland in Finglas on 12 December last. Hyland, one of the biggest drug dealers in the state, was shot dead at a relative's house by two gunmen. Campbell saw the killers and was murdered so he would not be able to identify them.
