Leeds' demise provokes fans
Tom Fotheringham

COCA-COLA CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND-UP

AT Elland Road Leeds fans staged an injury-time pitch invasion with their club drawing 1-1 against Ipswich. Leeds are staring relegation from the Coca-Cola Championship in the face after Alan Lee's late equaliser cancelled out Richard Cresswell's opener.

Hull's 1-0 win at Cardiff means Leeds go into the final Saturday of the season trailing Hull by three points. And Hull's superior goal difference . . . nine goals . . . means Leeds are all-but relegated.

The referee took the players off with some of the six minutes of added time still to be played when some fans invaded the pitch.

It was a very different story at St Andrews where Birmingham are on the verge of being promoted back to the Premiership after secondhalf goals from Cameron Jerome and Sebastian Larsson disposed of Sheffield Wednesday. The Blues need another point at Preston on the final day of the campaign to make sure of going up . . . if Derby beat Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park tomorrow . . .

while they also have a far superior goal difference. The final whistle was greeted with joyous scenes from the 29,000 capacity crowd, who seemed convinced promotion is assured.

Elsewhere, second-half goals from Irishman Andrew Keogh and Michael Kightly were enough for MickMcCarthy's Wolves to see off QPR at Molineux and maintain a Championship play-off position.
