THIS weekend sees the longawaited launch of the first 60 apartments at Clancy Quay, the new residential scheme on the site of Clancy Barracks on the South Circular Road at Islandbridge, on the southern banks of the Liffey.
Selling from plans, these homes are due to be ready by summer 2009 and when completed the overall project will have around 700 units, along with a hotel, business centre, leisure facilities, medical centre and shops.
The scheme is in walking distance of the city centre and minutes away from the Irish Museum of Modern Art at the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham Gaol, Heuston Station (with Luas stop) and the War Memorial Gardens at Islandbridge.
Clancy Quay, which is being built by P Elliott & Co and designed by HKR Architects, is an impressive project that will incorporate many of the existing 18th-, 19th- and 20thcentury buildings onsite, along with contemporary buildings. As part of the restoration project, the original 19th-century square will be made into a public space with views of the nearby Phoenix Park, the Wellington Monument and the Royal Hospital.
Apartments will have good internal space ranging from around 46sq m (495sq ft) to 102sq m (1,100sq ft) and all units will have floor-to-ceiling windows, hardwood doors, fitted kitchens with granite worktops.
In addition, the development will have 24-hour concierge service and all units come with a car space.
