Coming up roses in Howth - Howth, Co Dublin: 1.55m
Roisin Carabine

THEY say a well kept garden is the sign of a well kept interior and that's certainly true about Woodville in Howth.

The gardens that surround this pretty yellow painted house are a real visual delight . . . verdant manicured lawns dotted with sweet smelling, colourful flowers and bordered by neat hedgerow and shrubs with winding stone paths that meander through it all, so every aspect of the garden can be enjoyed.

What they create is a real sheltered, tranquil oasis that give the feeling of being in the countryside. Everywhere you look there's something to see and enjoy.

And for those who like to dine al fresco, a wonderful paved patio to the side of the house is the perfect spot.

Inside accommodation is equally charming, with a relaxed vibe that mirrors the atmosphere outside. Not a single opportunity to enjoy the garden is wasted with a good mix of different sized windows in all rooms.

The decor is a mix of period charm and modern styling, character-filled rooms with walls painted in soft hues of green, pale yellow and cream and decorated with a mix of antique furniture and pretty patterned fabrics.

Ground floor accommodation comprises an entrance hall, opening to a study/TV room, living/dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, utility, bathroom and conservatory.

The kitchen is a spacious, light-filled room with fitted shaker style units and integrated Neff appliances at one end and a dining table that comfortably seats six at the other.

The living room is equally big and accommodates a sofa, two armchairs, a beautiful dining table and other furniture comfortably without looking cluttered.

However, it's the conservatory that's most impressive.

It's a real suntrap, with glazed walls on all sides that visually blur the boundaries between inside and out.

Upstairs are three large double bedrooms, all with garden views. The master is en-suite with built-in wardrobes Greys Lane is situated just off Dungriffin Road and enjoys easy access to Howth village, local schools and shops. There are hill walks nearby, though who needs to go walking when your garden looks as good as this.
