CHEVROLET is adding two new vehicles to the line up of models on offer in the Irish market. This week a new flagship saloon, the Epica, goes on sale with attractive pricing and next month the the Captiva, an impressive looking 4X4, will be in the showrooms.
Both are timely arrivals as well-kitted-out family/fleet cars in the twolitre segment are in demand and there is still a big appetite for 4X4 models.
The all new Epica comes with a two-litre six-cylinder petrol engine which develops 144bhp and a top speed of 200km/h. The 0100km sprint takes just under 12 seconds. Chevrolet say that fuel consumption averages 8.2l/100km for the manual transmission and 8.9l/100km for the automatic.
The big body allows good interior space for driver and passengers and there is a good level of noise insulation. The car was designed at the GM design centre in Korea with European tastes in mind so up front there are wrap around headlights and the side view shows a wedgeshaped design which allows for a 480-litre boot, which can be extended by folding rear seats.
The Epica comes with 10 airbags and all-round disc brakes and the passenger cell is made up with 40% high-strength steel. The large side mirrors have integrated indicators. The LS entry level is priced at 26,995 for the manual and 29,495 for the five-speed automatic version and comes with a heightadjustable driver's seat, electric windows, thermal insulation glass, air conditioning and an audio unit with MP3 compatability.
The LT version comes with automatic transmission as standard and the list of other standard features is impressive.
For 32,495 you get cruise control, rain-sensing wipers, speed-sensitive steering, leather upholstery, heated front seats, an electronic stability control (ESC) with a traction control system, parking sensors, climate control, sixstack CD and 17in alloy wheels.
