Ivana New Daughter THE young Spanish actress Ivana Baquero, whose mixture of innocence and knowingness was the pivot of the Oscarnominated 'Pan's Labyrinth', will make her English language debut in a somewhat similar role in 'The New Daughter', a adaption of a short story by Dublin horrorthriller writer John Connolly. She will play the daughter of a single father who moves to a remote farm where the presence of a strange mound in the surrounding fields seems to induce her to behave in an increasingly ominous way. Connolly's latest Charlie Parker thriller 'The Unquiet' was published last month.

Farmiga enhanced VERA FARMIGA, who had an electrifying cameo in Anthony Minghella's 'Breaking And Entering' and also starred in Martin Scorsese's 'The Departed', plays the role of the concentration camp commandant's wife in Mark Herman's adaptation of Irish novelist John Boyne's 'The Boy In The Stripped Pyjamas', which has started filming in Hungary. While nine-year-old son Bruno who, unaware of the Final Solution and the Holocaust develops a friendship with a Jewish boy on the other side of the wire, remains the central focus for the story, Farmiga's role has been enhanced to give the film a more morally complex viewpoint.

The film is being producer by David Heyman, creator of the Harry Potter franchise.
