HOW'S THE FORM?

BACK WEST HAM TO SCORE THE LAST GOAL OF THE SEASON 22-1
Odds quoted are from Paddy Power It's all come down to this. After weeks of underachievement there's one last shot at redemption, one last stab at proving it's possible to mix it with the big boys. Yep, this column needs a big winner, and fast. So it's time to go out on a limb, and where better for a crazy bet than the Premiership's "nal day. As ever, all the interest occurs on the down low.

West Ham, Sheffield United and Wigan can all drop and the permutations are these: if West Ham draw or win they're safe, while Wigan need to win and hope the Hammers lose.

Sheffield United just need a draw, which is a decent bet since they play Wigan at Bramall Lane. But it's Paddy Power's special market on which team scores the latest goal of the day that piques the interest. West Ham have a flair for the dramatic and what a story it would be if Carlos Tevez (right), popped up with a vital strike. If that seems "imsy reasoning, then consider this: Manchester United have conceded goals in the final five minutes to Arsenal (twice), Reading (twice), Portsmouth (twice), Wigan and Bolton this season, while West Ham's winner in December came on 75 minutes. Vote for crazy, have a nibble at 22-1.

BACK WOLVES AND WEST BROM TO DRAW THIS AFTERNOON 9-4
Odds quoted are from Betfair Speaking of craziness, the fizzy pop Championship play-offs can usually be depended on for some lunacy, can't they? Well, yes and no. While those finals that seemed to consist solely of last minute-equalisers and hour-long penalty shoot-outs are still fresh in the memory, there's usually little excitement to speak of in the semi-"nals. Played over two legs, and with both sides almost paralysed with fear of defeat, goalfests are rare; the average strike rate is just over two goals per game.

Today Mick McCarthy's Wolves are left to scrap it out against West Bromwich Albion. The Baggies go into the fixture as the form team.

They also hammered Wolves 3-0 in the FA Cup at Molineux. But Wolves prevailed in the league fixture at the same venue and their opponents' main objective will be to get them back to The Hawthorns on level terms. Almost 40 per cent of first legs in play-offs over the past 20 years have ended level. With odds of better than 2-1 still available on two evenly-matched sides finishing level again today, the draw is most certainly the bet.

Where the money was. . .

BACK COCKNEY REBEL TO WIN THE 2,000 GUINEAS 39-1 (Betfair)
Well, he didn't make everyone smile, did he? Apart from those Steve Harley fans who got stuck it at 39-1 on Betfair at the off. The shock winner, with Olivier Peslier on board (right) was backed at 55 on the exchanges and at a high of 85-1 ante-post. Elsewhere, someone obviously got their colours mixed up as Diamond Tycoon was backed at as short as even money in running, despite giving little or no indication of taking home the pot.
