Landscape and light are the dominant themes in artist Deirdre Hayden's work, which is in part based in reality and partly based on dreams. These landscapes, she says, are a state of mind and, while depicted as physical realism, they are intended to be viewed as part of our personal, interior architecture. They're beautiful, captivating and energetic paintings. Hayden was born in Dublin but spent her early years in Belgium in the Flemish village of Overijse.
Catch her first solo exhibition, 'Nothing Really Ends' in Stone Gallery on Pearse Street, until 23 June.
