Solace in the suburbs - Ballinteer, Dublin 16: from 415,000
June Edwards

GLENKERRIN Homes has released another 17 apartments and penthouses at its impressive Ballintyre residential development in Ballinteer, Dublin 16.

Voted Irish Development of the Year in 2005, this large scheme of 118 apartments and 420 three-, four- and five-bed houses on Ballinteer Avenue is in a lovely setting combining a mix of communal and private landscaped gardens.

The developers retained many of the mature trees from the site which gives the development a more settled look throughout.

Designed by architects McCrossan O'Rourke Manning, Ballintyre has a mix of contemporary-style apartments and traditional family-type houses with gardens.

The site stretches from Ballinteer Avenue to Brehon Field Road, and is 20 minutes' walk from the Dundrum Shopping Centre, while Superquinn is just opposite the main entrance.

Apartments range in size from a one-bed of 66sq m (709sq ft) to a three-bed penthouse of 230sq m (2,475sq ft).

All apartments are bright and airy with large windows and open-plan layout. Due out this autumn is the refurbished period house and stables on the site, currently being converted into stylish upmarket mews homes, which will complete the entire Ballintyre development.

Impressive features which come as standard include custom-made kitchens which come fitted with a stainless steel hob and oven, dishwasher and fridge freezer.

All radiators are fitted with decorative covers, while recessed lighting is fitted in the hall, sitting room and kitchen. Included in the price is designated parking.

Show apartments on-site are interior-designed by Nicola Pollard and Deluxe.

Balally Luas Station is 20 minutes' walk from the development, and there is also a good bus service to the city centre.
