Greencore to learn outcome of legal action against Irish government over interference early next month
Jim McGrath

GREENCORE will know early next month if their legal action against the Irish government has been successful.

The case in the commercial court concluded on Thursday last week and has gone for judicial review with Justice Frank Clark setting 14 June as the date of his judgment.

Greencore Group PCL were taking the action against the Irish government, the Minister for Agriculture and Food, Ireland and the Attorney General over what their alleged unlawful interference by the government in directing Greencore how to allocate their 145m restructuring aid which followed their withdrawal from sugar production here.

The state concluded their case this week with the Irish Farmers Association and the Machine Contracters Association also notice parties in the case.

The case looked likely to have been delayed because of the courts legal resources but was managed to be completed in the allotted two-week period.
