The Sopranos
Thursday, RTE Two, 10pm
Those that giveth, also taketh away, and just as we were all removing the clingfilm from our lay-z-boy chairs, setting the microwave to the appropriate corn popping setting, disconnecting the phone lines, doorbell, broadband (actually better leave that one on), soundproofing the living room from the neighbour's dog/ alarm/joyriding son/rubbish music, and slipping into our finest yoga pants and slippers stolen from a nice hotel, it was all over before it even began. RTE decided to postpone the premier of the final series of The Sopranos in favour of something called The Leader's Debate between Bertie and Enda. First of all, RTE, neither of these blokes are even going to be the next Taoiseach (Cowen, call me), so how relevant are their rants, really? We would much prefer to hear about the murderous plots, backhanders, corruption, violence, infidelity, bent coppers and sneaky lawyers from the point of view of the New Jersey mafia, not the Drumcondra one. Oh well, good things come to those who wait. I suppose.
