TRAMORE REPORT
CURRAGH trainer John Oxx has found Tramore to be a happy hunting ground in recent years and sent out the Aga Khan's home-bred pair of Taralaya and Daruliyya to gain valuable winning brackets in the hands of Niall McCullagh at the seaside venue yesterday.
Taralaya was sent off the 2/5 favourite for her event - the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 3-Y-O Maiden - and duly obliged by six lengths. The trainer's representative, Jason Forsythe, commented, "She's done it well and will probably go into handicap company now."
Her stable companion, Daruliyya, wasted little time in going to the head of affairs in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies' Maiden and lasted it out by threeparts of a length from the 2/1 favourite, First Symphony. Forsythe said of the 4/1 winner, "She has her job done and got her bracket."
John Hanlon, who trains under a restricted licence, made a quick getaway to Kilbeggan's evening fixture, where he was represented by Melon Delta in the opener - after saddling the 5/4 favourite, Shaimaa, for a threequarter-length success under Adrienne Foley in the Waterford & Tramore Directors Ladies' Maiden.
Hanlon said, "She's a very well-bred filly and has her job done on the flat. She's improving the whole time and I'd say from here we'll go to Galway. I'll give her a run over hurdles in three weeks' time and see what way she goes there."
Jockey Billy Lee combined with trainer Tim Doyle to capture the Lisselan Fillies' Handicap by three lengths with 9/1 shot, Certainlei. Her handler remarked, "It's great to win with her because she has been a bit frustrating up until now. She did that well carrying a big weight and has breeding value now. We'll soldier on for the summer and try to pick up another one. I was a bit worried about the trip today but she saw it out well. She was bred to be a sprinter but her sire gives her stamina."
Emlach Star, with 7lb claimer, Martin Lane, in the saddle, made every yard of the running in the Gerard P.
Geraghty Memorial Handicap to land the spoils for trainer, Frances Crowley.
