Music fan raps Ticketmaster on the knuckles over concert
Ali Bracken

TICKETMASTER has refused to refund a customer for two concert tickets booked 13 days ago that have yet to arrive by post. The concert took place last Sunday.

Chris O'Driscoll, from Stepaside, Co Dublin, booked two tickets for the Nas concert at the Tripod venue in Dublin, on Monday 21 May, six days before the event. The tickets were booked online for 79 and when they had not arrived on the day of the concert on Sunday 27 May O'Driscoll contacted Ticketmaster. However, the company's customer service helpline does not operate on Sundays. O'Driscoll purchased more tickets at the venue and assumed Ticketmaster would later refund the price of the tickets.

"Usually, four working days for tickets to arrive is plenty of time. Any undertaking to provide goods and services should be honoured and if not you should get your money back.

I'm still waiting for my tickets.

I doubt they were even put in the post, " he said.

Ticketmaster said the tickets were sent to the customer on 23 May by post as requested. "Customers have the option to select whether they want the tickets by post or through box office collection up to four days before the event takes place. This customer selected post out, " according to a company statement. But if Ticketmaster did not believe there was adequate time for the tickets to arrive, it should have been clearly stated on their website, according to O'Driscoll.

"If I had been informed it was recommended I pick them up at the box office, that would have been no problem.

I contacted the office of the director of consumer affairs and they said I had a clear case to take them to the small claims court which I am considering doing. It's a matter of principle."

Ticketmaster stated: "We are unable to refund tickets after an event has taken place.

We cannot be held accountable as the customer ticked a box during the purchase process agreeing to our terms and conditions and made no attempt to contact us to advise on the non-delivery."

When he contacted Ticketmaster, O'Driscoll said he was "taken aback" by the company's immediate refusal of a refund.
