Q&A: LISA MCNULTY

Q I want to paint my living room walls green but how do I tell a 'warm' green from a 'cool' green?

A Green is an ideal colour for a living space as it is calming and relaxing, it also helps to bring the outdoors in. Warm greens tend to have a high content of yellow and cool greens lean more towards the blue end of the colour spectrum.

The best way to identify this colour content is to hold the paint swatch next to the yellows or the blues; if it co-ordinates then you can instantly tell the family it's closest to.

Colours can dramatically alter in different lighting conditions.

Remember to look at the paint chip or brush out on the walls at different times of the day and night and in both natural and man-made lighting. In Dulux's new Simply Colour range, Simply Ivy is a warm green and Simply Teal is a cool green.
