It rained so much and it blew such a gale for the final round of the Ken Kearney Design Connacht Mid-Amateur Championship at Roscommon that only six of the 27 qualifiers managed to break 80.
Ken Kearney looked every inch a champion in his own event after opening rounds of 74 and 70 but he could manage no better than an 84 when the weather acted-up and he had to settle for a share of third as the title was lifted by Eamon Haugh from Castletroy with rock-steady rounds of 72, 75 and 75.
