Edward Elgar: Complete Symphonies Hurst/Daxos/Damiel Naxos (3 CD box set) . . .
THIS year marks the 150th anniversary of Edward Elgar's birth and Naxos celebrate the occasion with re-releases of recordings from 1992 and 1993 with the BBC Philharmonic and 1999 with the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra. George Hurst conducts the first symphony, accompanied by the Op 32 Imperial March, Edward Downes the second symphony and Paul Daniel the third, a relatively rare recording pieced together from Elgar's fragments by Anthony Payne.
This is certainly worth the few euros.
