EASY LIKE A SUNDAY MORNING - You won't drag me near the shops because Sunday is all about family
Katy McGuinness

HELEN O'CONNOR Creative Director, Nelo Maternity

SUNDAY is my favourite day of the week, probably because it's the only day that I'm guaranteed to have off. I used to work for Yves Saint Laurent in New York and then I spent five years working as Claudia Schiffer's PA, also based in New York. Because she travelled so much, I did too and there wasn't always much notice so it's a real luxury for me knowing where I'm going to be on a Sunday and being able to make plans.

Claudia was pregnant during the last year that I worked for her and I ended up doing a lot of research and shopping for maternity clothes, so when I came back to Ireland I knew what I was going to do. My sister-in-law, Annette, and I set up the business four years ago. We were both pregnant when we opened which was probably not ideal but we made it through! I still do a fair bit of travelling for buying. I go to London, Paris and New York regularly but I always make it home for the weekend.

The shops are open on Sundays but everyone knows that I can't be dragged in. We have three branches now - Dublin, Cork and Limerick - and Annette and I usually spend a day a week in each of them. Customers really like to see the owners on the floor.

We stock everything from high-street type clothing to some serious designer stuff like the Citizens of Humanity jeans for Euro265.

We look after working women and we'd do a lot of black-tie and wedding outfits.

Sinead O'Connor, Victoria Smurfit, Georgina Ahern and Michael Flatley's wife, Niamh, have all shopped with us over the last year.

I live in Dublin and my husband, Mike, and I usually go out together on Saturday night - Saba, the wine bar at Fallon & Byrne and Porterhouse are some of our regular places. We try to have a bit of a lie-in on Sunday but Lauren (three and a half) and James (20 months) aren't particularly co-operative.

Eight or nine is the latest we manage - by then the kids will be bouncing in on top of us.

We have a big family breakfast together - pancakes and smoothies would be a favourite. The kids love to help putting the fruit into the blender. Mike will go out and get the papers and we'll hang around reading and playing with the children.

I like to go to mass most Sundays, I think it puts a framework on the day. The children enjoy lighting candles. We drop into West Coast Coffee on Camden Street on our way home - Lauren calls it 'The Blue Coffee Shop'. James loves the buns.

In the afternoon we might make an excursion to the zoo or the park. Sometimes we meet up with friends for brunch or invite people over for lunch or tea. Sunday is always a quiet evening. I like the routine of baths and bedtime stories for the children, and organising the clothes and lunches for Monday. I wouldn't be much of a television person but I'd often spend an hour or two of my downtime on the computer, usually browsing the fashion sites. I'm so interested in fashion trends that it doesn't really feel like work.
