Regulars of their other cafes and stores will know what to expect . . . simply cooked, excellent food made from local and natural ingredients and the Fern House doesn't disappoint in this respect.

From the organic beef burger with chunky chips cooked in duck fat (steady onf) to poached salmon (again organic) with potato salad and caper mayonnaise, there's something to please all palates here.

As ever, it's the baked goods that prove irresistible, such as the basket of mouth-watering breads and the chocolate tart with creme anglaise.
